New The All-New Mazda BT-50

>The All-New Mazda BT-50
The All-New Mazda BT-50
The All-New Mazda BT-50Mazda released the first photos of the all-new BT-50. As we've mentioned many times before, the two pickup truck models are the result of a collaboration between Ford and Mazda and will both get their world premiere at this week's Australian International Motor Show in Sydney.

The Japanese automaker's iteration of the compact pickup truck theme gets its own unique exterior cues and interior styling inspired by the firm's passenger car range. Though far less aggressive than originally implied on the first teaser sketches, the BT-50's exterior design is more funky than it's Ford sibling. The same can be said about the interior which is said to feature all the accommodations of a passenger car.

Here's what Mazda had to say about the new BT-50 in its teaser press release:

"It offers all the functionality required for business use combined with passenger car-like comfort for family use; and for active customers in Australia and Europe, it is the perfect answer for all kinds of outdoor leisure activities.

"With modern and refined styling both inside and out, the All-New Mazda BT-50 will raise the bar in the utility segment and for the first time provide a realistic alternative to the family wagon and 4x4 SUV."

New Auto Insurance Tips- 5 Car Insurance Tips to Save You Money

>
Auto Insurance Tips- 5 Car Insurance Tips to Save You Money
Here are some great tips that could save you money on auto insurance.

1. Raise Your Deductible

One way to save money on car insurance is to raise your deductible. A higher deductible will result in a lower premium. Just remember that you will need to pay the deductible in the event of the accident. So don't raise it so high, that you can't afford to pay it if you were ever to get in an accident.

2. Take a Driver's Safety Course

Did you know that taking a course in Driver's Safety could save you money on your policy? Many companies offer discounts to customers who complete an approved driving course. See if your insurance company could offer you a discount for this.

3. Choose your Car Wisely

You may not be in the market for a new car right now, but when you are thinking of a purchasing a new vehicle, choose wisely. Don't just look at the sticker price on the vehicle when shopping. Certain cars are more costly to insure than others, so you could end up paying a lot more in car insurance than you expected if you buy that nice sports car instead of the four door sedan. Cars that are more likely to be stolen or that have parts that cost more to replace will be more expensive to insure. Keep that in mind when you decide to purchase a new car.

4. Drive Less

You may be wondering how driving less will save you money on car insurance. Well, many companies offer discounts to people who meet certain low mileage requirements. Start carpooling to work or school. Not only could it save you money on car insurance, but it will also save you money on gas!

5. Compare Quotes from Multiple Companies

You may already have an auto insurance policy in place or you may be looking for one right now. Whatever your situation, it is always important to stay on top of car insurance rates that different companies are offering. If you already have a policy, compare quotes every six months or so to make sure you are getting the best rates out their for your situation. If you are looking for a policy, be sure to shop around before deciding on a company.

New 2011 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Specifications

>
Add captio
As a sedan, the 3rd generation Alfa Romeo Giulietta for the 2011 model year is a fantastic ride for a sedan that lives up to the Alfa Romeo name. A front-wheel drive model, the dynamics of the new Giulietta are superb as well as the interior features and standard equipment offered. Fans of Alfa Romeo and followers of the Giulietta may be looking for a new facelift and redesign, but they’ll have to wait a few years longer, as the next overhaul isn’t due until the 2014 model year.

Specifications

  • Pricing: Base price of just under $28,000
  • Engine: Five engine choices including a 1.4-liter or turbo that puts out 120 or 170 horsepower as well as two diesel options.
  • Transmission: The Giulietta features an all-new 6-speed three-shaft gearbox.

Exterior Features

The 2011 Alfa Romeo Giulietta’s wheelbase is 8.6 feet sporting light lines and a sleek, distinctly European exterior styling. The well-known Alfa Romeo trident adorns the front above the distinctive triangular grille. Buyers will be able to choose between a comfort or sport chassis and each will have a few different trim levels and powertrain options. The LED headlight and taillight accents are stylishly and uniquely designed.

Interior Features

The new Giulietta offers plenty of space in its well-accented interior, with luxury features like leather seating, Bluetooth and hard-drive based navigation aplenty to make for a more enjoyable experience. Tilt and telescoping steering wheel and heated front seats for both driver and passenger are additional touches that it may be difficult to find on other sedans in the same class and price range without paying a hefty premium. The interior cabin is incredibly quiet, at highway speeds indicating the car’s precise and well-fitted design.

Performance

The new Alfa Romeo Giulietta offers a surprisingly comfortable ride, which, for those used to the harsher, but more precise handling of an Alfa Romeo may come as something of a surprise. A DNA dynamic mode makes for a sportier ride, but the 2012 Giulietta still feels like a comfortable family sedan.

Competition for the 2011 Alfa Romeo Giulietta

Competition for the 2011 Alfa Romeo Giulietta includes:
  • Ford Focus
  • Hyundai Elantra
  • Honda Accord
The Ford Focus is less expensive and it shows through and through, though, however Ford’s innovative Sync system and the fuel economy are significant plusses for this American classic. Both the Hyundai Elantra and the Honda Accord offer superior quality and reputation for reliability all around.

New Bugatti Veyron

>
How do you make your $1.3 million car more exclusive? You get the Bugatti Veyron Pur Sang (a really lame name) limited just to 5-units worldwide these special-edition Veyron were all immediately sold at a $300k premium.
Pur Sang means 'Pure blood' in French and the chromed Veyron is differentiated by its paintjob, or rather, lack thereof. The body panels were assuredly polished but left in their natural state of aluminum and carbon fiber, the separation between which does not follow along the lines of the traditional Veyron's two-tone color scheme.

New CR-Z, Crosstour, Insight sales hurting – Odyssey lone bright spot among new Honda models

>
Honda has hit rough water with sales of its new CR-Z, Accord Crosstour and Insight models According toAutomotive News, the three models are underperforming in a big way.
Take the Insight hybrid, which is falling 40,000 units short of even the most conservative estimates inside the company. Outsold 8-to-1 by its Toyota Prius rival, Honda has only managed to shift 19,325 units through November – the company originally targeted sales of 60,000 to 80,000.
Likewise, thus far this year, Honda has sold nearly 20,000 fewer Crosstour models than its biggest competitor – the Toyota Venza, selling just 25,927 units compared to the Toyota’s 43,325. Need we remind you, Honda’s original sales goal for the Crosstour was 40,000 units per year, a number we were deeply skeptical of after first driving the vehicle at its launch last November.
Although it hasn’t been on the market that long, early sales for Honda’s new CR-Z hybrid coupe aren’t any more encouraging. Automotive News reports that Honda had conservatively intended to sell around 15,000 of the two-seat hybrids per year, but so far, only 4,373 have made their way off of dealer lots and another 3,000 are currently sitting in inventory. Thankfully, there is one bright spot in the Honda stable – the 2011 Odyssey. The minivan bowed in September, and it’s performing well against a minivan segment that has heated up with a range of new competitors.

New Honda Insight gets much cheaper base model, new features for 2011

>
The slow-selling Honda Insight hasn’t exactly stolen any of the Toyota Prius’ thunder since its introduction last year, and with new green cars like the Chevrolet Volt and Nissan Leaf ready to join the battle, the future of Honda’s hybrid hatch doesn’t look too bright. Still, the Japanese automaker has given the Insight a host of improvements for the 2011 model year, including a new base model that retails for $18,950 (including the $750 destination charge).
So, what do you lose gain with the base Insight? For starters, a downgraded stereo system is on hand, with a single CD player and two – yes, two – speakers. Audiophiles need not apply. Remote entry is standard on the base Insight, but if you want amenities like cruise control, a USB audio interface, center armrest and floor mats, you’ll need to opt for the mid-grade LX trim. In other words, the new price leader is something of a municipal and fleet special. On the opposite end of the spectrum, the pricier EX now comes standard with steering wheel-mounted audio controls and can be optioned with navigation.
The Insight’s 1.3-liter inline-four with Honda’s Integrated Motor Assist carries over largely unchanged, with fuel economy rated at 40/43 miles per gallon, city/highway. 2011 Insight models are arriving at Honda dealers as you read this, and for the full details on what’s new, follow the jump for Honda’s press release.

New Honda CR-Z wins 2010 Japan Car of the Year

>
For the past 31 years, Japan has selected a Car of the Year award recipient. Over 60 jurors, composed mainly of Japanese journalists, vote on a vehicle worthy of the Car of the Year title, and the auto that receives the most nods drives away with the crown. Last year, that honor went to the redesigned Toyota Prius hybrid, which narrowly edged out the Honda Insight. This year, however, Honda took top honors with its all-new 2011 CR-Z.
Car of the Year jurors praised the CR-Z because of its ability to balance driving pleasure and fuel economy. Jurors also noted that Honda managed to wrap all that high-tech gadgetry inside a unique body design. Upon receiving the award, Honda’s president and CEO, Takanobu Ito, stated:
We are very proud that the CR-Z has been selected from the strong contenders of new models as the Car of the Year Japan 2010-2011. This award shows that the public has accepted Honda’s aspiration to supply exceptional environmental performance in a fun-to-drive hybrid car at an affordable price, as well as Honda’s desire to spread the joy of owning and driving a car. We also believe that this award for the CR-Z reflects the true value of the combined efforts of our business partners and the many others who supported CR-Z development and production. Going forward, Honda intends to bring more joy to an even larger number of customers.

New Honda releases more Fit Hybrid images, details

>
Honda has told us it will not be producing a Honda Fit Hybrid for the U.S. market, but it also once told us thatthere will be no Honda Jazz Hybrid. What you are looking at above is exactly that – an EU-market Honda Jazz with a gas-electric drivetrain. The new, more verdant model is set to make its world debut at the Paris Motor Show, and Honda has just released an expanded array of images and more details about the eco-minded hatch. While the Japanese automaker hasn’t divulged the car’s full specs, there are a few things we do know:
  • Interior space remains largely uncompromised, as the battery pack and other hybrid hardware is under the trunk floor.
  • The IMA mild hybrid motor and control systems are shared with the Insight and CR-Z.
  • Just like the Insight, the Jazz Hybrid utilizes a 1.3-liter gasoline engine under the hood.
The U.S. 2010 Honda Fit model is rated at 27 miles per gallon in the city and 34 mpg on the highway, and we expect the Fit Hybrid to push that urban rating up by more than a few notches. Sadly, this new model remains unlikely to make it to North American shores.
